01 What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device. Every time your browser revisits the site, it sends the cookie back, which lets the site remember things — like that you are signed in, what language you prefer, or which dashboard tabs you had open.

We also use related technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage, pixels and SDKs — that work in similar ways. For simplicity we call them all "cookies" in this policy.

02 What this policy covers

This policy applies to farmerswitch.app, our web dashboard, and our marketing emails. It does not cover our USSD service on *789# — USSD does not use cookies (see Mobile & USSD). Our mobile apps use device identifiers and storage instead of cookies; those are described in the Privacy Policy.

03 Categories we use

Strictly necessary Always on

Required for the site and dashboard to work — login, security, load balancing. Cannot be switched off.

Functional Optional

Remember your language, region and dashboard preferences so you do not have to re-set them every time.

Analytics Optional

Aggregated, de-identified usage so we can see which features matter and where bugs live. No advertising.

Marketing Optional

Measure which campaigns brought partners to our site. Off by default. We do not show ads on the Platform.

05 Third-party cookies

A few features depend on third parties. They set their own cookies under their own policies.

  • Google Fonts — serves the Instrument Serif, Plus Jakarta Sans and JetBrains Mono fonts. No tracking cookies.
  • Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly analytics. No cross-site tracking, no personal data.
  • LinkedIn Insight — only loaded when "Marketing" is enabled in the panel above. Used to measure B2B campaign performance.
  • Stripe — only loaded on payment pages. Required to process subscription billing securely.

06 How to manage cookies

You have three controls:

  • Our preference panel — the toggles in section 03. Changes apply immediately to the optional categories.
  • Your browser — most browsers let you block, delete or whitelist cookies. Look for "Privacy" or "Cookies" in your browser's settings.
  • Sign out — clears your session cookies on this device.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and security features. We recommend leaving them on.

07 Mobile apps & USSD

USSD (*789#) uses no cookies, no localStorage, no tracking technologies of any kind. Each session is identified by your phone number and a session ID provided by your network operator, and discarded when the session ends.

The mobile app uses the operating system's standard storage APIs (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android) instead of cookies. Equivalent controls live in the app under Settings → Privacy → Tracking.

08 Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" header or a Global Privacy Control signal. We treat GPC as an opt-out of all optional cookies. We do not currently respond to legacy "Do Not Track" headers because they are not standardised, but you can achieve the same result via our preference panel.

09 Changes

If we add, remove or change cookies materially, we update this page and re-prompt you for consent at your next visit. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) just update the "Last updated" date.
